Prof. Dr. René Mayrhofer is the Head of the Institute of Networks and Security and head of the Josef Ressel Center for User-friendly Secure Mobile Environments. His main research interests are Security and Usability.

Dr. Michael Roland works as a post-doctoral researcher at the NFC Research Lab Hagenberg and the u'smile project. His main research interests are Near Field Communication (NFC), smartcards and Android with focus on security.

Dob Todorov is the Regional Head of Public Sector Solutions Architecture and the Principal Architect for Security & Compliance for the Amazon Web Services Business Development organisation in EMEA. Dob works with a wide range of public sector and large international enterprise customers to envision, design, and implement secure and compliant solutions in the Cloud. Dob is the author of a number of books on information security, and a regular speaker at Security and Unified Communications events around Europe. Besides industry certifications from Amazon Web Services, and other major industry leaders, he holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Management. He’s passionate about business development, leadership, and innovation.

Dipl.-Ing. Helmut Fallmann, Co-Founder and Member of the Managing Board of Fabasoft AG. Fabasoft has established itself as a leading European software vendor and cloud provider with headquarters in Linz.

Georg Beham has been working in the field of information technology since 1989 and holds a master´s degree in „Secure Information Systems“. Furthermore he is Director at “KPMG Advisory GmbH” Austria where he leads the division „Cyber Forensic & Security“. Georg Beham has been supporting customers in information security topics since 2006 and regularly writes reports regarding cyber-forensic investigations such as data theft and hacking attacks. Furthermore Georg Beham is certified expert witness in the field of Cyber-Forensic, Privacy and IT-Security and lecturer at the Danube University in Krems, at the University Liechtenstein and the Universities of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg and Eisenstadt. Additionally he is a certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor for Information Security Management at OCG.


Dr. Andreas Berger specializes on IT Security since his studies of Information and Communications Technology at the Technical University of Graz. At this time, he was particularly interested in cryptography, network security, and identity management. After graduation, Dr. Berger joined the Telecommunications Research Center Vienna (FTW) in 2007 to work toward his PhD in computer science. His dissertation project focused on anomaly detection in large-scale operator networks and resulted in the development of two new approaches for cybercrime detection. Dr. Berger joined Sophos' endpoint security group in 2014 and is currently working on Cloud-managed data protection solutions.


Harald Schütz has a deep background in the IT security business. He started his career in a small IT-security startup in Linz back in 1989, developing hardware- and software-based security solutions for data protection, encryption and identity management. Later he established the international project business for Utimaco focusing on security solutions for large-scale enterprises. Harald has a deep interest in innovation and is constantly monitoring new emerging technologies and new ways of delivering IT security. Currently his main area of interest is in privacy and data protection for cloud services and mobile devices. Harald Schütz is currently holding the position of ‘Director Engineering’ at Sophos and leads the Data Protection division in Linz.

     

LVA - Modus:

Students wishing a mark on the course will have to do this:
  • Form a group of two persons
  • Select three topics from the list online and rank them 
  • Send an E-Mail to Ms.Lachmair (Severina.Lachmair@jku.at) with your list and your names
  • You will soon receive whether/which topic you got or whether there is a problem (online list will be continuously updated)
  • Deadline for topic: 15.12.2014
  • Write a paper on the topic: IEEE template, >= 6 pages

  • Hand in paper electronically till end of January 2015
